Doodle Tablecloth

Doodle Tablecloth

Sitting at the table, waiting and waiting for SOMETHING to happen pre-meal.  How great would it be to have in-seat instant entertainment?  How much greater would that be if that entertainment inspired creative reach?

Today, I got the chance to check out the Doodle Tablecloth from ThinkGeek, and I had probably more fun then should be allowed from someone my age.  This tablecloth has a grid pattern that looks like it is printed on a notebook page with holes and red margin divider.

The medium size is perfect for card tables or average sized dining tables and it comes with a set of 8 wash out markers.  I do reccomend an extra set of markers, as coloring all over the cloth (every square inch, because we are funny like that) twice seems to kill the markers.

Great for kids, over-sized kids, designers, D&D buffs, artsy fartsy types, and brainstorming sessions.  Then, just rinse (cold water wash) and repeat.

When do dreams stop being just dreams?

When you turn them into goals and back them up with hard work, sweat and tears, of course!!

This Dream Bank from Uncommon Goods is made for just that.  The back comes off as a picture frame would, allowing you to set visual representations of that goal or dream as a backdrop while you watch your savings grow.

The frame is made of pine and has a soft finish.  It is sized to hold 5″x7″ photos or tiny collages, or cloth swatches, or whatever you can dream up!  The frame can be turned both ways so that you can present either a portrait or landscape view of your dream, and has deposit slots for both options.  The slots are large enough to fit all US coins, or folded dollar bills, or even some of the larger collectable coins that you might have in your collection.

The glory of this gift is genuinely in its versatility.  It allows for easy customization and is popular with dreamers of all ages.  Don’t care for the color of the stain?  It isn’t terribly difficult to sand it down and give it your own, or use a bit of acrylic and make the frame itself into your own personal work of art.

Gift Ideas:
Graduation
Wedding (5th Anniversary is traditionally WOOD!)
Geek gifts (Of all ages, Shapes and Sizes!!)
Children’s Birthdays (Don’t forget to send them along with a little seed money to help them start to grow!)
Christmas (Who doesn’t dream on Christmas?)

Check it out, only $25 at Uncommon Goods.  You can also check out the rest of their gift ideas for geeks.

Asian Style Monochrome Journal

We go through a lot of stationary here, and most of what we write, we want to keep around for a long time.  And it is always better if a journal looks good. (Or great, or amazing)

This over-sized oriental themed hardcover is a beautifully accented landscape on both sides.  With raised details and sketched in golden metallic accents.

It has a built in ribbon bookmark and lays flat on your desk or lap to make it easier to write in, you get 192 lined pages.

Great gift for fans of Asian inspired art, writers, and students.

Glow Bricks

Being a big fan of odd desk items and decorations, taking a look at the Glow Brick by Suck UK was a bit of extra design fun.

The bricks are clear and inside you can see what looks like a light bulb imbedded in the resin form.  Set it in the light for a considerable amount of time and watch it glow.

My only real hiccup about this product is that it doesn’t glow as much as I would like, only faintly.  But it is still really cool to look at and makes a great piece of decor, a gift, or even a paperweight.

Grab your own Glow Brick at Amazon.

Einstein in my pocket

What do you get the friend who has everything?  Well, just about whatever you want because it won’t matter, they will already have it.  But if they have almost everything, they might be of the brainy sort and not yet have their very own miniature Albert Einstein.

This tiny, gigantic headed figure stands barely under 3″ tall.  (2 1/2 if you don’t count his wild hair)  The inside of his box shares some fantastic Einstein facts to both bewilder and inspire.

Great little guy to keep anywhere, as office inspiration and motivation, in your car, or in your creative space.
