It attaches to the wall and is controlled by a remote. Guessing by the large size of the fairy figure, I was expecting it to be powered by a plug-in, but found that it is actually powered by batteries. Power drain? Not too bad, your little princess will be fast asleep and the light will shut itself off after a short while.
It makes a light fairytale ringing sound when it turns on, which sounds very cheery, and your child can use the remote to change it to one of six color effects, one of which is constantly changing color.
