Not long ago (although it feels like forever) we got to show of the Back To The Roots Mushroom Kit. Since writing that post, I’ve been addicted to growing my own mushrooms and watching them take off. I started to wonder, what else are these guys going to come up with?
A while ago, I got an answer. They are also producing a Premium Soil Amendment for gardens and potted plants. Made of 100% organic recycled compost and mushroom compost blend. I’m seeing a theme here, recycled coffee grounds and mushrooms seem to go hand-in-hand rather nicely.
So we got to try it out in our garden. We used it as a top dressing on a portion of our vegetable plants just over a week ago (No other changes), and can see a noticeable difference in stalk strength, the color of the leaves, and overall healthiness. Only real drawback? Like most fertilizers and amendments, the Back To The Roots Premium Soil Amendment does carry a bit of a smell, but it is among the mildest I’ve ever had.
