Crafty Critters: The Martha Stewart Large Circle Cutter

Hello Crafty Critters!  I hope you are all doing well after the holiday hype!  Today I’m taking a look at something that has been on my want-list for quite a while, the Martha Stewart Crafts Large Circle Cutter.

In paper crafting, cutting a circle can easily be one of the most annoying tasks to undergo.  When it comes to trying to get a large, perfect circle quickly, some of us resort to tracing everything from coffee mugs to cream buckets, and still don’t manage to pull off the desired result.  Enter: The Martha Stewart Crafts Large Circle Cutter.  At $25.79 it is a bit of an investment for your craft station, but it can be used in such a wide variety of products, you really have to weigh out the benefits.

The unit has measurements right on it, so you don’t have to guess at what size circle you are going to get.  The blades are double edged, which lets you go both clockwise and counterclockwise while cutting, and they dock right in the cutter when you aren’t using it.

Available at EKSuccess and on Amazon.com.

Crafty Critters: The Martha Stewart Crafts Family Tree Stamp Set

Hello to all of my favorite crafty apes!  The season of giving is upon us and a lot of us are looking for relatively inexpensive (and adorable) gifts for our rather large extended families.  We have a great suggestion, if you happen to be up for it!

Why not make them a customized family tree?  Get some nice archival paper, a set of these Family Tree stamps from Martha Stewart Crafts, and sit down for an afternoon of stamping and using your very best penmanship to create a beautiful, one of a kind gift that they will keep around for generations.  And, if you decide to make a gift of the stamp set also, they can add to the tree whenever those wonderful new-arrivals come into the family.

The set includes 8 high quality stamps with a trunk, three branch styles, two different plate styles for adding names and dates, as well as three coordinating ink pads that look fantastic.  It all comes in a wooden storage box with a cute tree design that shows you what your final product could look like.  I recommend using ink for the branches and name plates, then flocking for the leaves, to allow the leaves a nice, textured overlay look.

Available on Amazon.com or at Martha Stewart Crafts.

All-Purpose Ink Workstations

Continuing our craft-frenzy, we are taking a look at Tsukineko All-Purpous Ink.  We are looking at their inking work stations, which come in five different color collections for different crafting experiences.  Our favorite color collection is Classic, which has twelve basic and cheery colors that mix well to create nearly any color.

Each of these workstations has the twelve ink colors in small 15 ml (0.50 oz) jars that have wide enough mouths that make them very convenient for pouring, dipping the included Fantastix, or just about any other use you can think of.

The All-Purpous ink is vibrant, not watered down like so many other craft inks.  Want it watered down?  Do it yourself to make a nice wash of color.  It is a great multitasking ink that takes to almost any porous surface, including cloth.  (Heat set for cloth projects.

The see-through stand showcases the inks beautifully and holds the Fantastix applicators upright.  We got to use the Classic colors and Rustic, which contains an earthy collection of deep tones that look great in landscapes and decor.

Check out the full array of colors, available as Workstations, mini-workstations or individual colors at Tsukineko.com, or put in an order on Amazon to get your own.

Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps

We’ve been in a crafty kind of mood lately, and have been taking a look at the best of the best in paper craft supplies.  Rubber stamps are expensive, you generally get one at a time, and they take up loads of otherwise-useful space in your desk or crafting station.  Today we are checking out the Clear Art Stamps by Crafty Secrets.  These stamps come on a re-usable sheet, where you can take them of

f, position them on an infinitely re-usable acrylic block and stamp away to your hearts desire.

Rather then paying $8-$15 for a single stamp on awooden block, you can buy a small, medium or large sheet that contains anywhere from 5-100 individual stamps. Alphabet sheets usually contain more then art stamps.

There are many different brands and designs of Clear Stamps, and Crafty Secrets does manage to stand out.  They have a large selection, great and unique designs, and more importantly they produce a quality stamp.  The lines and ridges in each stamp are clearly defined and produce a clean edge for a beautiful impression.

We got to try out one of each sized sheet, the top photo shown is their “Greetings from Wonderland” a large sheet design, featuring beloved characters and sayings from Alice and Wonderland.  It is a great set for making greeting cards and adding accents to mixed-media art projects.

The second set we looked at was the Adore Alphabet, a medium sheet.  It has both upper and lowercase letters, a complete set of numbers, and a bit of punctuation to help you on your way.  This set is a stylized alphabet that looks great when combined with almost any other design.

Then from their Small sheets, taking a look at Altered Art.  I was a little nervous about this set at first, because there is a LOT of intricate details that will get lost if you are using an inferior ink, wiggle the stamp, or don’t apply even pressure.  I was truly impressed with the ease of use for these, give it a steady hand and the small bumps in the face and wings come out very nicely.

Overall, I enjoy Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps for quality, selection and the unique designs you can’t find anywhere else.  Check them out on their official website, or you can buy their designs (retired too!) on Amazon.com.
